The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced changes to the electronic funds transfer application for Medicare payments and the laboratory national coverage determination (NCD) edit software.

Effective May 1, 2024, providers must use a revised application to submit requests for electronic funds transfer. The revision features minor updates, including corrected page numbers; revised form instructions and data element titles for clarity; removal of the Authorized/Delegated Official Title data element; an additional box for reporting the chain home office number; and a newly optional email address data element in Part V of the form. Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) will accept current and revised versions of the form through April 30.

Effective July 1, 2024, changes will be made to the lab edit module for clinical diagnostic laboratory services for the following NCD codes: Serum Iron Studies (NCD 190.18); Glycated Hemoglobin/Glycated Protein (NCD 190.21B); and Prostate Specific Antigen (NCD 190.31). MACs will adjust any claims processed in error.
