On July 29, 2022, the Center for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) published proposed changes to the Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) that; among several other changes to Medicare Part B payment policies; included updates to travel allowances.
The proposed changes include allocating mileage/travel across traditional Medicare patients as opposed to all patients with a specimen collection fee. Although these are currently proposed changes; they are expected to pass later this year and go into effect January 1, 2023.
